The LAMMA 2008 show was the 29th and probably the largest it has been so far, although wet the gales of last year stayed away making the show much more enjoyable for all.
Agricultural machinery keeps on getting bigger, the Grimme potato harvester and the Dewulf machine certainly proving the point, both capable of huge outputs.
All the major manufacturers turn out in force at this event, mainly due to the fact that it attracts a lot of farmers, even some from abroad, I heard numerous foreign voices while walking around the show.
Major seemed to have judged the weather well, with flood warnings up and down the country this tanker looked the perfect machine. Zetor on the other hand were being more optimistic with their open topped tractor. Cross were showing off a dribble bar system for applying what ever you had just sucked up!
CASE IH had an impressive line of equipment at the show, the main theme being new models. A lot of manufacturers were showing off new models which were making their UK debut, including CASE IH, Deutz, Claas and others.
Diversification ideas including the Claas forager set up to cut willow, showed how farmers can gain access to the newer crops and markets that are emerging.
Deutz were showing off there new machinery including the Agrotron M 650 and the Deutz Fahr 5690 HTS
Mercedes had two models at this years show, a base unit and a model brought in from a contractor showing possible options available with such a machine.
Apart from the tractors there were plenty of machinery stands to look around.
A more unqiue approach to low ground pressure was this mini-Q track system on a CASE IH tractor, supplied by Colling Brothers of Abbotsley.
