The Cereals 2007 show guide proudly annouced that there would be two entrances to Cereals 2007, judging by the queue I and quite a few others sat in for an hour, that wasn't the best boast they could have come up with!
Apart from that Cereals 2007 had everything else the grain grower could wish for, all the major harvesting manufacturers were there along with a huge variety of tractors and implements
The main manufacturers you think of when it comes to harvesting grain all had a combine on their stand along with their range of tractors. John Deere also had BEV 144G on their stand, the 4020 tractor done up by the students on John Deere's apprenticeship course AgTech at Brooksby Melton College.
The majority of the combines on show were top of the range rotary machines capable of large outputs.
There were certainly a lot of people at the event, with a lot of interest in both crop husbandry and seed houses as well as interest in the machinery.
The reason behind all the equipment was of course the crops, although the wild flower borders an option for the headland buffer strips look a lot more appealling!
There was plenty of horse power on show, the three below were all big and impressive. The Fendt 930 had a control arm like something from a spaceship! Not a tractor anyone could jump on and drive. I doubt if I could have got it to move without some instruction!
The 10 hectares of demonstration area shrunk dramatically with all the different cultivation manufacturers plots, many of the machines were parked up but where one was working it attracted a crowd. Further photographs of the machines on the demonstration plots are on separate webpage
